AT-43 Figures

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

I picked up a good ebay auction recently and doubled my collection of AT-43 minis.  But the addiction is strong and I want more.  I have very limited funds right now however.  If any on runs into any good deals for more AT-43 stuff, please send me a shout out!

My Army

I have finally completed my set of UNA and Therian armies! It was like Christmas at my place opening up the boxes. Here are some photos.

My Game Skills

Friday, July 25th, 2008

I have so far lost every game I’ve played.  I’ve been playing the UNA versus the Therians.  Every single game has me at the end completely frustrated.  We play a “kill them all” mission.   Maybe you all can give me some pointers.  Here is what the 2000 point Therains looked like:

Tiamat

Nimit-Urash

9 Storm Golems (3 sonic cannons)

6 Grim Golems lead by Atis-Astarte

3 Assault Goliaths

Here is what the UNA look like:

Defender Snake

3 Light Rain

12 Star Troopers (2 Missile Launchers, 2 Medics, 1 Captain)

3 Steel Tac Arms

UNSS BattleAxe

I also take advantage of the Artillery fire.  When that Stupid Tiamat comes in, I don’t have a chance.  Last night, I killed Nimit-Urash right away, he ejected.  Then Tiamat came on the board and created a Hekat.  I blasted the Hekat to bits.  Then he placed his Storm Golems, who killed my Tac Arms…but then I used Artillery and killed all but 2.  Then his Assault Goliaths came out and I killed one of them.  Then his Grims came on and almost wiped out my Star Troopers.  The next round, I killed Tiamat right away, which she simply took over the Overseer that was still alive and rushed my Snake, created another Hekat, and killed it.  Then the Grims left my 3 star troopers alive and teleported to the Light rains and started to slash them.  Tiamat and the Hekat next round pretty much wiped my Light Rains out, and I lost.  I used the Battleaxe every round, but I didn’t seem to do much…especially when the stupid “Repair” routine can just fix what ever damage I did.  It’s getting frustrating to play this game!!!  Are the UNA just not a good match for the Therians?  Is my friend cheating?  Who knows?  Maybe you…

Another Abysmal Game

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

I played last week.  I lost, again.  Thanks to everyone who has posted a comment in the previous post giving some much needed advice.  I really appreciate it.  Here is the new problem.  My dice rolls suck.  I utilized all the advice you all game and I think my strategy was sound.  I ran the Mind unit again against his Cypher unit playing Mission One in the new Operation Damocles book.  I was the Defender, I ran this 2000 AP Army:

Assault

3 Light Prince Fire Toads

12 Star Troopers (Captain, 2 Medics, 2 missile launchers)

Reinforcements

Defender Snake

3 Jam TacArms

Unit of Steel Troopers

He ran:

Tiamat (Cheatamat)

Nimit-Urash

Bane Goliaths with Nina

Reinforcement

Grim Golems with Atis

I started off bad for me.  He sniped my Medic with Nina which was pretty demoralizing.  I brought him back with the other medic, but then he sniped it again, this time killing it.  Using the Fire Toads and Artillery strikes I managed to only knock out 2 of the Banes and put some damage on Tiamat and Nimit, but spread out across the frame and the legs and weapons over the next two rounds.

Things went pretty bad for me the entire game with most my shots flying wide missing their marks.  It was quite frustrating.  Especially when I finally got enough RP to bring in the Snake.  He shot both sets of missiles, missed everything, then was taken out by Tiamat and the remaining Banes.  It was pretty much over at that point.  I think my strategy was spot on, it was my rolls that got me killed.  Does anyone know how to load dice?

My Next Game Army

Monday, August 11th, 2008

We are ready to do Mission 2 of Phase One of Operation Damocles soon. We’ve decided to up the AP value of our game from 2000 points to 3000 points. I’m going to use the MorningStar UNA faction. Here is my Army! Please give me feedback!
Copperhead (NBC Coating)
9 Steel Troopers (2 Missile, 2 Medics, Tripple Lense) with Sergeant A. Borz
3 Steel TacArms (Laser Targeter)
3 Jam TacArms (Laster Targeter)
3 Light Prince (NBC Coating)
1 Fire Toad (Captain H. Newton)
Defender Snake
Artillery Strikes

It is 2975 points and to me, looks pretty good. Here are some pictures.

The War Rages on

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

I’m playing the Dreaded Tony tonight in our continued Battle for Damocles. So far the Mighty UNA have seen defeat in their first two battles. We hope to be able to push this mission through for victory and take control of the Therian Factory.
We’re playing a 2500 point army. I’m running the M.Ind faction with the following company.

Platoon 1

- Copperhead (+ Colonel G. Stark)
- 2 Fire Toad (with Captain H. Newton)
- 3 Steel TacArms (Sergeant)
- 8 Star Troopers (Lieutenant, 1 Missile Launcher)
- 9 Steel Troopers (Lieutenant, 2 Laser Gun)
Platoon 2
- Defender Cobra M8 (Sergeant)
- 6 Wing Troopers (Lieutenant, 1 Laser Gun)
Off platoon
Artillery strikes

My total is 2500 Exactly. I know the Defender Cobra M8 isn’t out yet. We have a very loose “Proxy” policy. As long as the stats are available, we’ll play it. I’ll report tomorrow how the battle went.

Game Last Night

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

I won. I finally won one! I ran the M.Ind unit from my post yesterday. He ran a Cypher unit with the following:

Tiamat

6 Grim Gollems with Atis

Wraith Golgoth

Potergiest Golgoth

9 Assault Gollems

4 Bane Goliaths with Nina

It started out pretty good with Col. Starks AFV in Overwatch on the board first. His mortar shot made the Therians wait to put their Assault Golems on the field. I was able to take out a created Hekat, Wraith, Tiamat (which used a Body Hack to take out the Assault Golems) and the Banes were leveled with an Artillery Strike. On the final round I only had one AFV, a lone Fire Toad, left of the field as my unit of Steel Troopers came in contact with the only objective. I had 10 VP at this point and controlling the objective sent me to 20 VP, thus winning the game. If this had been a usual slug fest, I would have not stood a chance. But, all in all that brings our Operation Damocles to a 2 to 1 Therian lead.

Missing Figures

Friday, September 19th, 2008

I’ve managed to piece together a pretty large collection of AT-43 mini’s to play this wonderful game. I find myself having to “Proxy” figures more then I’d like. I’m curious to see if others are doing the same thing. For instance…I only have 1 box of Steel Trooper Attachments, but a ton of Steel Troopers because I bought the Operation Damocles box and a unit box. When I make two units of Steel Troopers, both with two medics, I have to proxy 3 figures. I usually use the Engineer and a random figure. The same goes with my Star Trooper units. To gain the additional figures, I would need to pick up something like 6 boxes of attachments. I’ll have to start saving up for that! I started out collecting AT-43 when I lived in Pennsylvania and had no one to play it with. My mind set then was simply to collect the figures, not really worried about how many of each I would need to play. Now that I play, I find myself missing figures. Here is a list of what I think I’m missing when it comes to putting armies together. How about you? I know I’m not like most because I’m collecting multiple armies, but are you missing units or figures in your armies? Are you missing them because of money, or do you just not like a particular one? I’m curious to see everyone else’s collections.

Up and Coming Army: Cogs

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

The Cogs have shown up in a few Cry Havoc’s from Rackham. They are the next army joining the fight in Frostbite. They have shown some comparison photos against a UNA officer with the Cogs being quite a bit taller then every other army. I for one, dig the style and look of this army, although I do question the Orange Armor. If they weren’t fighting on a snow planet, it would look just fine however. I can’t wait to get my hands on these guys!
